What Ascenso is
Ascenso is a workplace recognition tool used by restaurant employers. Managers record recognition ("kudos") for employees, and employees can view and export their own recognition record. We text employees about recognition they receive and to deliver login codes.
Information we collect
- From your employer: your name, mobile phone number, job title, and work location, entered by a manager when you are added.
- From use of the service: recognition entries about you (category, optional short note, date, who gave it), goals you or your manager enter, login times and device type.
- From you: your consent to receive texts (your YES reply) and its timestamp.
We do not collect payment information, location tracking, or biometric data, and we do not buy data about you from anyone.
Text messages (SMS)
- We send texts only to people who have replied YES to an invitation text. You can stop at any time by replying STOP; reply HELP for help.
- Messages are: notice that a manager recognized you, one-time login codes you request, occasional reminders to managers, and a congratulations message when a manager records a promotion. Message frequency varies; typical employees receive a few per month.
- Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- We never share your phone number or mobile opt-in information with third parties for their marketing. Mobile opt-in data is used only to deliver the messages described here.
How we use information
To operate the service for your employer: show your recognition record to you and your managers, compile badges and summaries, help managers notice team members they have not recognized, and flag candidates for a development conversation. Some features use rules and, where clearly labeled, AI assistance to draft text that a person reviews before it is saved. These tools inform human decisions; they do not make employment decisions.
Who can see your information
- You: your own record, always, with export.
- Managers at your employer with responsibility for your location, according to their role.
- Nobody outside your employer. Ascenso keeps each employer's data separate and never shows one employer's information to another, even if you work at two employers that use Ascenso.
Service providers that process data on our behalf: Airtable (database), Netlify (hosting), Twilio (text delivery), and Anthropic (AI drafting, only for text you or your manager submit for drafting). They may not use your data for their own purposes.
Your choices and rights
- Reply STOP to end texts at any time.
- View and export your record in the app.
- Ask for correction or deletion of your information by contacting us (below) or your employer. We delete or anonymize your data when your employer ends the service or on request, subject to legal retention needs.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Phone numbers are masked in the app and are never placed in web addresses. Access is limited by role.
Children
Ascenso is for working adults and is not directed to anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will post the new version here and update the effective date.
